On the 9th July on a very sunny Sunday Team Nikki Waterhouse trust and Hunters Auction got together to take on the challenge of this years Rotary Club Dragon Boat Race. The team was made up of Nikkis family friends and colleagues from Hunters and even a member of parliament. Some flying in from sunny Spain to take part.
The Dragon Boat race which is now in its 21st year has raised over £1.5m for great local charities and allows groups like ours to raise important awareness and money for those who need it the most. It is organized by York Rotary club full of volunteers who provide a safe event for us all to enjoy – and we did just that!
The day was about getting together and raising money but also about having alot of fun. Many teams were dressed up in fancy dress. “Everyone enjoyed the day” said John Waterhouse, trustee “it was great to see so many local people taking part and supported by many local businesses Special thanks to Kevin Hollinrake MP who gave up his time to join our team.
The amount raised was around £2500 and was our 2nd year in taking part. Next year we hope to go bigger and support the Rotary Club with their next event.
