Wow what a day! Where do we start…
First of all we would like to thank each and everyone of you that supported this great day. Unlike last year the sun was shining and on Sunday 13th our team of 20 rowers all picked up their paddles and helped us raise an amazing amount of money once again for the trust.
The day started early with our team of volunteers setting up stands on both sides of the river Ouse. On the South side for our 4th year running the athletes stand along with banners and food created a base camp for those thirst rowers. On the north side and for our 2nd year our team with a tombola and win a teddy stalls all set up raring to go.
This year the team, along with their purple branded t shirts had matching shower caps and our team captain Chloe dressed as a rubber duck.
The team were outstanding and for the first time in our history won all of their three races. Sadly some others were just that little bit quicker in the other heats so we didn’t place in the final but it was so much fun!
The event is ran by York rotary group which again pulled out the stops and made it a safe and fun day. We raced against 38 other local charities who all raised an amazing amount of money.
A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who came to support us by the river but also those who sent money to our page. We raised a record amount of money of over £9000 and are pleased to say we were the top fundraisers of the event!
The money is well spent and please see other news to where it goes. We hope to see you all again in July 2026!
